To be part of the ISC is cool, but to be a foreign student is even cooler! In various offer of different activities like regular parties, sports and country presentations are also weekend trips organised into some parts of the Czech Republic (or even into foreign destinations). The weekend 17. 10. - 19. 10. was spent on a trip on the biggest mountain of the Czech.
The students met on Friday evening on the Main station and together hit the road to Teplice nad Metují, where they stayed overnight in a hostel and of course drew energy for the following hiking. Saturday morning couldn’t begin without a hearty breakfast in the near pub. The students got a biscuit after the breakfast and set out on the way to the Adršpach-Teplice rocks. These were declared as a national nature reserve in 1933 for the protection of rock towns. The students had an opportunity to see stone formations, for example Mammoth cave, Gothic gate or Mayor and his wife. After this nice tour the group went to the train station heading to the town Trutnov, where they had one hour of free time for shopping, food and sightseeing. Afterwards they continued to Pec pod Sněžkou with a stop at bobsleigh. The end of the day was rise to the accommodation Děčínská bouda, where the students could rest, play some games and went exhausted to sleep.
The Sunday breakfast was in a form of self-service buffet, so everybody filled up to have energy for the most important thing of the weekend – Sněžka. Everybody could make it on the top without any damages. During the break the hikers could observe the surroundings, drink a coffee and send postcards to their families and friends. The weather was really good and sunny. For the way back the students chose another way and walked through the second and the third biggest mountain of the Czech Republic (Luční hora and Studniční hora). Then it came time to go back. After several train changes the sheep arrived back to the “hometown” Brno. We are looking forward to the next trip!
